The Hundred: Tammy Beaumont, fresh off her double century in the Women’s Ashes, has etched her name in the annals of history once more. She has become the pioneering woman to notch a century in The Hundred, securing this remarkable achievement while representing Welsh Fire against Birmingham Phoenix.

This standout cricketer not only etched her name into history but also etched her name at the top of the leaderboard by recording the highest score in the tournament’s history. With an impressive 118 runs off just 61 balls, including 20 fours and two sixes, Beaumont’s performance reached iconic heights. Her score not only set a record for the highest individual tally in the history of The Hundred but also spearheaded Welsh Fire to a commanding 41-run triumph over the Trent Rockets.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Beaumont confessed, “I’m still trying to process what just unfolded. It was an absolute whirlwind of a day. I’m thrilled to have delivered such a spectacle for the fans.”

Adding to the roster of centurions in The Hundred are Will Smeed and Will Jacks. A celebratory Instagram video posted by Welsh Fire captures the elation of Beaumont’s century, symbolized by a single run that marked her ton.

As the opening pair, Welsh Fire exhibited their prowess by amassing a formidable 181/3 within the allocated 100 deliveries. In conjunction with Beaumont’s masterclass, both Sarah Bryce and Sophia Dunkley made noteworthy contributions, notching 31 off 20 balls and 24 off 18 balls, respectively.

Among the bowlers, Kirstie Gordon stood tall for the Rockets, achieving commendable figures of 2/27. Alana King also managed to seize a pivotal wicket. In counteraction, the Fire quelled the Rockets’ efforts to a score of 140/5. Freya Davies of Welsh Fire secured two crucial wickets, while Alex Hartley, Shabnim Ismail, and Sophia Dunkley each snagged one.

Bryony Smith’s impressive innings of 48 off just 21 balls, embellished with four sixes and an equal number of boundaries, further illuminated the scoreboard.
