Manchester United have recalled 22 year old Jacob Carney for a trial at the club.
Carney, who is a left-back, was released by Sunderland in the summer of 2023 after making 10 appearances for the Championship side.
Carney came through the Manchester United academy and made his first-team debut in 2020.
He spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Carlisle United, where he made 25 appearances.
The youngster is now hoping to impress new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and earn a contract at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag is known for his attacking style of play, and Carney is seen as a player who could fit into his system.
Carney will be given a chance to train with the first team and play in some pre-season friendlies.
If he impresses, he might be given a contract.
The trial is a good opportunity for Carney to show Ten Hag what he can do.
He will be up against some tough competition, but he has the talent to make it at Manchester United.
